Have you ever questioned how certain salad mix microgreens differ?
The image shows the differences between these three salad mixes:
- Basic Salad Mix;
- Mesclun Salad Mix; and
- Spicy Salad Mix.
I describe:
- my Basic Salad Mix as "somewhat spicy" due to the tanginess of Arugula and Broccoli seedlings; and
- my Spicy Salad Mix as "more spicy" because of the added Southern Giant Mustard seedlings, which add a nice, warm mustardy kick on the back end.
I describe the delayed taste of the Southern Giant Mustard in the Spicy Salad Mix this way:
"It's like you chew and you chew and you chew and [count 1, 2, 3] oh, there it is!"
The mustardy spiciness in the Spicy Salad Mix microgreens is like an afternote or afterthought.
Some weeks ago, I watched the face of a woman who was sampling some of my Spicy Salad Mix microgreens.
When the Southern Giant Mustard seedlings "sang out" in her mouth, her eyebrows went up!

I asked with a smile, "The Southern Giant Mustard seedlings 'kicked in,' didn't they?"
She nodded vigorously!
